The Caribbean Ocean Perspective Project
Caribbean Ocean Perspectives is a storytelling initiative that incorporates the use of innovative media tools such as the ocean-focused EcoVybz Podcast and an interactive E-Magazine to raise awareness and highlight the ongoing ocean issues in the Caribbean region. Funded by Sustainable Ocean Alliance, it includes the voices of all stakeholders especially the youth and seeks not only to educate and change attitudes towards the ocean and marine resources but to also act as a catalyst towards solution implementation and behaviour change in the region. With a special focus on reaching the youth, the main goal of the project is to provide the knowledge and tools necessary to inspire the next generation of brilliant ocean leaders! Coral reefs are some of the most diverse and valuable ecosystems on the planet, providing millions across the globe with food and coastal protection, employment, and recreation.
Sadly, our reefs are dying; day in and day out, they constantly fight against climate change, pollution, disease, habitat destruction and overfishing.
It is a fight they cannot win on their own; for years, many of us have been part of the problem but moving forward, we can all change that and join forces with the ocean leaders who have been part of the solution.
Together it is up to us to open our eyes to the problems, it is up to us to open our ears to the solutions, and it is up to us to collectively take action. We must change our behaviors if we want a healthy ocean and thriving coral ecosystems.
